Massey University Doctoral Scholarship

All applicants for the Massey University Doctoral Scholarships are considered for the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarships. The Vice Chancellor's Scholarships are awarded on academic ranking to the top students.

Eligibility
The Doctoral Scholarships are open to persons who are enrolled or eligible to enrol full-time for a research paper of 120 credits during a 12 month period towards a Doctoral degree at Massey University. A full-time candidate will be expected to work 40 - 50 hours per week on their Doctoral qualification. Part-time applicants are not eligible. Applicants already holding a PhD are not eligible to apply. Consideration will normally only be given to students with a GPA of 7.0 or better (on a 9 point scale, or 3.7 on a 4 point scale), or an A- average or better in graduate level papers. Applicants who are completing Honours or Masters thesis or research report must be due to submit by the end of the year (for October applications).

The applicant is required to pay for the course by course evaluation, with the applicant and Massey University each receiving a copy of the resulting evaluation report. For students with overseas qualifications who are awarded a Doctoral Scholarship, a one off payment of up to $NZ250.00 will be made towards reimbursement of the cost of the evaluation report. Successful applicants will need to provide proof of payment (i.e. a receipt), in order for reimbursement to be made with the first monthly stipend. Applications are incomplete without this report and will not be considered.
(Note: A qualifications assessment report from New Zealand Qualifications Authority is not a substitute for the course by course evaluation).

Value
1 Doctoral Scholarships
The value of the Doctoral Scholarship shall be $25,000 per annum to a maximum of 3 years. Recipients are responsible for the payment of their fees.
2Vice Chancellor's Doctoral Scholarship
The value of the Vice Chancellor's Doctoral Scholarship shall be $28,000 per annum to a maximum of 3 years. Recipients are responsible for the payment of their fees.

The Scholarships Committee may reduce the value or amend the terms and conditions of a Doctoral Scholarship to meet the circumstances of individual applicants.

ICSP SCHOLARSHIP

International students who demonstrate financial need and exceptional merit may apply for the International Cultural Service Program (ICSP). Selected ICSP students receive a tuition-waiver scholarship ranging from $7,500 - $27,000. ICSP students agree to complete 80 hours per year of cultural service as required by the program. Cultural service can include speaking or giving demonstrations to schools or community groups about the heritage and culture of your country or participating in international events on campus.
Selection

The following criteria are used to select the successful candidate:

    Demonstrated financial need
    Experience participating in cultural activities
    Demonstrated performance and presentation skills
    Strong academic records
    Strong communication skills

Deadline
Applications and supporting materials must be submitted to International Affairs on or before January 15, 2013. Documents sent to the Admissions Office will not be accepted for your ICSP application.

Eligibilty
    Applicants must be admissible or fully admitted to the University of Oregon. New students must apply for admission to the UO for 2013-14 by January 15, 2013. To apply for admission go to http://admissions.uoregon.edu/international/index.html.
    Applicants cannot be U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, or eligible to receive U.S. federal financial assistance.
    Applicants must demonstrate financial need and meet the minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA requirement.

        Presentation materials The selection committee is very interested in the types of presentations you are able to make. Describe topics you are prepared to address as you represent your country and cultural background. Include a list of the materials you need to illustrate your talk (ie. slides, photographs, instruments, national dress, artifacts, etc.).
        Two-page personal biography The biography should be in the form of an essay and not a listing of facts. It should include information concerning your background, future goals, education, influential experiences and special interests.
    Two recommendation forms. You are responsible for making sure that your recommendations are submitted in English on or before January 15, 2013. Please be sure that your recommender uses the same name that is on your ICSP application. Recommendation letters submitted to the office of Admissions can NOT be used for your ICSP Application.

Master of Human Rights and Democratisation Asia Pacific Scholarships

2013-2014 Scholarships for Students from of Asia Pacific Countries to Pursue Master of Human Rights and Democratisation programme at University of Sydney and one of the four partner universities, 2013-2014

Study Subject(s):

In the first semester at the University of Sydney, students will undertake a foundational course in social science, legal and political approaches to human rights and democratisation. During the second semester students will follow two core units of study complemented by either supervised research, an internship at an in-country organisation specialising in human rights/democratisation or undertake further specialised electives. Students must select one of the four partners universities listed above to undertake their second semester study.

In the second semester, students will take one of the following options:

          Graduates will have both the ability to undertake independent scholarly research on current issues pertaining to human rights and democratisation in the Asia Pacific and skills to put their academic understanding and practical experience to use in real situations.

Course Level:   This scholarship is for pursuing master of human rights and democratisation (Asia Pacific) (MHRD) programme.

The MHRD is a unique Master degree program in which students undertake a foundational semester of study at the University of Sydney, and then a second semester at one of the four partner universities:
Gadjah Mada University (Indonesia)
Mahidol University (Thailand)
Katmandu School of Law (Nepal)
University of Colombo (Sri Lanka)

Graduates of the program will gain an interdisciplinary understanding of human rights and democratisation in the Asia Pacific, and will have opportunities to research and examine the application of human rights and democratisation in the field with the partner institutions.

Eligibility:

Scholarships will be available to citizens of Asia Pacific countries. The award of scholarships will be determined by academic qualifications and potential contribution to human rights and democratisation.

Scholarship Open for International Students : The students of Asia Pacific Countries can apply for this scholarship.

Scholarship Description:
20 partial scholarships, covering course fees and a stipend will be offered to outstanding applicants from across the Asia Pacific region. This is made possible with the support of a significant grant from the European Union, through the European Inter-University Centre.

Number of awards offered: 20 scholarships are offered.

State Farm Good Neighbor Scholarship Program


The program is administered by Scholarship Management Services, a division of Scholarship America.

Who is eligible?
Applicants to the State Farm Good Neighbor Scholarship Program must meet all of the following criteria:

    Must be a high school senior who will graduate at the end of the 2012-13 school year*
    *Children of employees, agents, and retirees of the State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company (the "Company") and children of employees of the Company's subsidiaries and affiliates who are otherwise eligible may apply for scholarships, but they will not receive any preferences. Disqualified persons of the Foundation (within the meaning of Section 4946(a)(1) of the Code) will not be eligible for scholarships.
    Plan to enroll in full time undergraduate study at an accredited two or four year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire 2013-2014 academic year
    Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.50 to 3.20 on a 4.00 scale (or its equivalent)
    Be a U.S. citizen
    Demonstrate financial need

What will be awarded?

    Up to twenty-six (26) selected recipients will receive a $2,500 award.
    Awards may be renewed up to one additional year based on maintaining satisfactory academic performance and full-time enrollment.
    Awards are for undergraduate study only.

When is the program deadline?
    Your application must be submitted electronically no later than 11:59 p.m. on December 17, 2012.
    Only the first 360 applications received will be accepted.
