University of the Virgin Islands scholarships

University of the Virgin Islands scholarships are available for incoming local high school students and currently enrolled University students. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of demonstrated scholastic ability. The minimum required grade point average is a "B."    

Scholarship announcements are generally made during the month of February for the upcoming academic year, at which time scholarship applications will be available in the Office of Institutional Advancement, Financial Aid Offices, UVI Libraries, local high schools and on this web page.

International School Manila scholarship

The International School Manila, located at Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, was founded in 1920.  The paramount aim of the school is to provide the highest possible standards of education to prepare children for entrance into colleges or universities throughout the world, and to develop the best intellectual qualities of each individual student.  The school is organized into three divisions – a four grade Elementary School, a four grade Middle School, and a four year High School.  At present, the student body represents over seventy nations including the Philippines.

For the school year 2016-2017, International School Manila will make available scholarships to students of Filipino citizenship who will be thirteen or fourteen years of age on or before September 01, 2016 and have completed the equivalent of IS Manila’s Grade 7.  The awardees shall enroll in Grade 8 and continue until they finish Grade 12.

NATURE OF SCHOLARSHIP
    1. The scholarships are available to students entering Grade 8 in the International School Manila.
    2. The need-based scholarships will include fees such as tuition fee, matriculation fee, and book rental. A participation fee may be required from the parents to cover a portion of the school fees.
    3. The scholarships may be enjoyed for five years provided the awardees maintain the appropriate scholastic level and abide by the school rules and regulations set by the Philippine Scholarship Committee.

WHO MAY QUALIFY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP?
    1. The awards are open to students of Filipino citizenship who have completed their 7th grade (Grades 1-6 plus first year high school or Grades 1-7) of school and who will be thirteen or fourteen years of age by September 01, 2016.
    2. The candidate must have demonstrated high academic achievement (no grade lower than 85% or its equivalent in any subject). Candidates must submit a copy of their report cards, school records/transcript from Grade 1 to current grade level with completed application forms.
    3. The candidate must demonstrate financial need. (Please see Financial Requirement Letter.)
    4. The candidate must meet all regular ISM entrance requirements.
    5. The candidate must have an excellent command of oral and written English.
    6. The candidate must possess high personal standards and be in good health.
    7. Only one sibling per family shall be considered for the scholarship program.

*Please note that school year 2016-17 at International School Manila begins in August 2016.

Unitil Scholarship Fund

It’s that time of year again that our STEM Scholarship applications are available!

We are happy to announce that we are again offering additional scholarships for high school students.  Six high school seniors from our service territories in New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts who are pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, or math will each receive $5,000 for the first year of undergraduate study.

Unitil Scholarship Fund application packets for the 2016-2017 academic year are available below or in the guidance department of select high schools throughout our service territories. The deadline to submit your completed application is on or before March 15^th and recipients will be notified of selection by mail no later than April 30th.

Leadership Franklin scholarship

High school seniors and current college students who live in Williamson County are encouraged to apply for a $1,500 scholarship to be awarded by Leadership Franklin.
The non-profit organization will award the scholarship to a student who meets the scholarship criteria.

Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average to be considered. A copy of the student's transcript and a 500-word essay are part of the application requirement.

Scholarships are awarded based on a combination of scholarship application points, community involvement, and quality of essay.

Applications are due March 4, 2016.

Simon Youth Scholarships

 Simon Youth Foundation works to help students achieve their goals, and cost alone should not prevent a student from furthering their education. Each year, SYF awards approximately $1 million in scholarships to help students with the cost of post-secondary education.

• Be a legal U.S. resident
• Plan to enroll full-time in an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school in Fall 2016
• Demonstrate academic promise and financial need

• Applicants will be evaluated based on academic promise, financial need, essay response, work experience and community/extracurricular involvement
• Scholarships in the amount of $1,500, one at each Simon® property, will be awarded annually and are not renewable

Generation Google Scholarships for High School Seniors

The Generation Google Scholarship

At Google, we believe information should be universally accessible. Our education and scholarship programs aim to inspire and help students become future leaders in computing and technology by breaking down the barriers that prevent them from entering these fields.

The Generation Google Scholarship was established to help aspiring computer scientists excel in technology and become leaders in the field. Selected students will receive 10,000 USD (for those studying in the US) or 5,000 CAD (for those studying in Canada) for the 2016-2017 school year. As part of the scholarship, current high school seniors who are entering their first year of university in 2016-2017 will be required to attend Google’s Computer Science Summer Institute (CSSI) in the summer of 2016

East Texas Communities Foundation Announces Scholarships Available

East Texas Communities Foundation is currently accepting applications from East Texas students for thirty-nine scholarships.

Applications are now open for submission for scholarships to be awarded for the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters. Unless noted otherwise, all applications and required supporting documents - including references - must be submitted by March 1, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.

Mary Keith Duff Memorial Scholarships
We encourage all our young members who are graduating high school seniors to apply for our $1,500 scholarships. Each applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, be bound for a two- or four-year college or university and be a member in good standing of Travis Credit Union. Students who live in our 12-county service region and are not yet members may join the credit union and apply for our scholarship concurrently.

Eligibility Requirements
1.  A Travis Credit Union member in good standing 
2.  A graduating high school senior 
3.  GPA of at least 3.0 (on 4.0 scale) 
4.  Travis Credit Union employees, volunteers and their immediate family members are not eligible.

President's Environmental Youth Award

Your project - or one you are sponsoring - could be an award winner. Apply or encourage a student you know to apply for PEYA and see what a difference they can make for the environment with an award-winning project. Applicants from all 50 states and U.S. territories are eligible to compete for a regional certificate of special recognition and a national Presidential award.

PEYA has two parts — a regional award for Grades K-5 and a regional award for Grades 6-12.
Applications are due January 31, 2016. A regional panel will review applications from each of EPA’s 10 regions. Up to two winners will be selected from each region – one for Grades K-5 and one for Grades 6-12. If a group of students is applying from a variety of grade levels, they should apply for the grade level of the oldest participant. For example, if a group of students in Grades 3, 5, 6 and 8 is applying for the award, the students should apply for the Grade 6-12 award.
Each award-winning project will receive a Presidential plaque. All qualified applicants will receive a certificate honoring them for their efforts to protect human health and the environment.

Eligibility

• Project is completed while the student(s) are in kindergarten through 12th grade.
• Student(s) are citizens of the United States or its territories or have been lawfully admitted for permanent residency.
• Project is sponsored by at least one adult.

Application

• Sponsor must sign and date page A-2 of the application.
• Project must be summarized on the pages provided in the PEYA application form (no more than 300 words).

How to Apply for the National Award Program

Step 1: Review the Eligibility Criteria

• Applicant(s) is a citizen of the United States or its territories or have been lawfully admitted for permanent residency.
• Project is sponsored by at least one adult.

Step 2: Complete an Application

• Download the application.
• A project summary of up to 300 words must be provided on the application form.
• A more detailed description of the project, addressing each of the evaluation criterion should be attached to the application. The project description can be up to 5 pages.
• Applicants are encouraged to submit photographs, newspaper articles, and other supporting materials to provide a more comprehensive view of the project.
• Sponsors must sign and date page A-2 of the application. Sponsors will be notified of the application status in March 2016.

THE COCA-COLA SCHOLARS PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP

The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation supports over 1,400 college students each year, with annual scholarships of $3.45 million, through two nationally recognized programs. THE COCA-COLA SCHOLARS PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors each year. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, and their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. With the 27th class in 2015, the Foundation has provided over 5,550 Coca-Cola Scholars with more than $56 million in educational support. 150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship.
Our application closed on October 31, 2015. It will reopen in August 2016 and will accept applications from those students graduating from high school in 2017.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be:

• Current high school (or home-schooled) seniors attending school in the United States (or select DoD schools);
• U.S. Citizens; U.S. Nationals; U.S. Permanent Residents; Refugees; Asylees; Cuban-Haitian Entrants; or Humanitarian Parolees;
• Anticipating completion of high school diploma at the time of application;
• Planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution;

THE COCA-COLA COMMUNITY COLLEGE ACADEMIC TEAM The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation proudly continues its support of Two Year Colleges through the Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team Program by providing up to $237,500 in stipends. 200 stipends are awarded annually across four tiers of recipients in varying amounts: Fifty New Century Gold Scholars are awarded $1,500, fifty Silver Scholars are awarded $1,250, and fifty Bronze Scholars are awarded $1,000. This scholarship is administered by Phi Theta Kappa, and application details can be found on their website, www.ptk.org.
