Travis Credit Union proudly offers $1,500 scholarships to 20 members each year who are high school seniors bound for college in the fall. It's another way people help people.
Mary Keith Duff Memorial Scholarships
We encourage all our young members who are graduating high school seniors to apply for our $1,500 scholarships. Each applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, be bound for a two- or four-year college or university and be a member in good standing of Travis Credit Union. Students who live in our 12-county service region and are not yet members may join the credit union and apply for our scholarship concurrently.
Eligibility Requirements
1. A Travis Credit Union member in good standing
2. A graduating high school senior
3. GPA of at least 3.0 (on 4.0 scale)
4. Travis Credit Union employees, volunteers and their immediate family members are not eligible.
Application Requirements
1. A completed Mary Keith Duff Memorial Scholarship Application
2. A personal statement essay (in 250 words or less) describing what has brought you to this point, your intended academic curriculum and extra-curricular activities throughout college, how you will maximize the opportunities of an education, and how you will apply what you have learned to your post-college plans and aspirations
3. A school transcript, certified by a high school official
4. One letter of reference from a teacher verifying scholastic honors and awards, leadership, extracurricular activities, community involvement and employment.
Award Criteria
1. 30 percent: GPA
2. 15 percent: Honors and Awards
3. 10 percent: Employment and Community Service
4. 10 percent: Leadership and Extracurricular Activities
5. 20 percent: Essay
6. 15 percent: Financial Need Consideration
7. Acceptance into a two-year community college or four-year college or university
8. Full-time enrollment of 12 or more credits or units
Timelines
1. Travis Credit Union Student Scholarship Applications will be available at
www.traviscu.org from Monday, January 4 through Sunday, March 6, 2016.
2. Completed applications must be received at the credit union by close of business on Monday, March 7, 2016.
3.Scholarships will be awarded by June 8, 2016, after acceptance at a college and confirmation of registration.
