PGMS Scholarship

Each year the PGMS scholarship committee awards monetary scholarships to students in horticulture or related fields. Applicants must be at least in their first year of college or may be recently graduated from high school (within the calendar year).

The top recipient will also have the opportunity to attend the GIE+Expo in Louisville in the autumn. PGMS will pay for the scholarship recipients’ conference registration and a travel allowance as well.

As we interact with the professionals of tomorrow in the work place and on campus, this is a great member benefit to promote PGMS and professionalism in our industry.

*Scholarship application deadline is January 1.

All applicants must submit the following by mail to PGMS:


1. The completed scholarship application. Download the application form.
2. A cover letter. Typed. Please include introduction, educational and professional goals, and intent for use of scholarship funds.
3. A current resume. Typed. Please include past employment history, awards, and certificates earned.
4. College or school transcripts.
5. Two (2) letters of recommendation. These should be from an instructor, employer, etc.
6. A letter from the PGMS member who is sponsoring the applicant.
All applications will be judged on completion and presentation of total criteria. Winners will be notified by February 17.

* Scholarships are for those applicants studying landscape and grounds management, turf management, irrigation technology, or a closely related field.

Coca-Cola First Generation Last Mile Scholarship Program

Central Washington University has received a grant for $100,000 from The Coca-Cola Foundation to establish the Coca-Cola First Generation Last Mile Scholarship Program.

The program will provide 10 students with $5,000 in scholarship support during their junior year and, if they maintain a 3.0 GPA and make progress toward degree, an additional $5,000 during their senior year.

Application Deadline: October 15, 2015

To be eligible to apply for the Coca-Cola First Generation Last Mile Scholarship students must:

- Be entering or in their junior year at the time of application and have completed between 90 and 120 credits toward degree.
- Be the first person in their immediate family to attend college or university [Immediate family is defined as parents and siblings].
- Be enrolled as a full time student [12 or more credits for undergraduates].
- Have and maintain a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA in all classes.
- Demonstrate financial need.

Max Planck Luxembourg PhD scholarships (2016)

The Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for International, European and Regulatory Procedural Law offers a limited number of PhD scholarships for foreign scholars to support their research stay at the Institute for up to twelve months.

Eligibility

Scholarships are offered to PhD students who plan to undertake research at the Institute within the Institute’s areas of research, i.e. international dispute resolution and comparative procedural law.

Deadline for applications : 15 September 2015 

Grant and benefits
The scholarship is paid in monthly installments of € 1500.
Selected scholars will be offered a working place in the library reading room of the Institute and will have the opportunity to participate in the regular scientific events and other activities of the Institute.

LFSA Limited Scholarship Program

LUPUS FOUNDATION OF SOUTHERN ARIZONA ‘LFSA’ STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP AWARD PROGRAM
The Lupus Foundation of Southern Arizona ‘LFSA’ has established a scholarship program to assist
residents of Southern Arizona affected by Lupus who want to pursue a higher level education. This
includes: Southern Arizona two-year or four-year College, or a vocational or technical institution.
Candidates must be directly/indirectly affected by Lupus which currently impedes their ability to pursue a higher academic education/technical or vocational career. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin.
The LFSA Scholarship Award’s eligibility is for a maximum of two (2) years and provides a maximum of $1500 per semester OR a maximum of $3000 per year to be paid directly to a qualified institution. Each chosen candidate must carry a minimum 3.0 GPA to maintain eligibility for each concurrent semester for the duration of the scholarship program.

LFSA SCHOLARSHIP AWARD ELIGIBILITY:
    1. High school senior or graduate, who plans to enroll in undergraduate study at an accredited
vocational-technical school or a two- or four-year college for the upcoming academic year or
duration of vocational study.
OR
If employed, be in good standing with your current employer, seeking undergraduate study at
an accredited vocational or technical school, or two- or four-year college for the upcoming
academic year.
OR
Seeking graduate hours to complete academia to further career.
    2. Either be a diagnosed Lupus patient, or financially impacted by someone who has Lupus.
Verification of diagnosis, or relationship with responsible Lupus patient is required for eligibility.
   3. Proof of residence in the State of Arizona, counties of Pima, Santa Cruz, and Pinal as we serve
the Southern Arizona Lupus community.

LFSA AWARDS
If selected as a recipient, the candidate will rewarded $1500 per semester if attending a two- or fouryear
program, or a maximum of $3000 per annum if attending a vocational or technical school. Awards
are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year for the maximum two-year
eligibility.

APPLICATION
Interested students must complete an application and mail/email to LFSA. Any transcripts can be
mailed, emailed, faxed to LFSA – Attention Scholarship Program. If sealed transcripts are required, LFSA will cover the cost of such documentation during the review process. Applicants will receive
acknowledgement of receipt of their application. If not notified within three weeks, please contact
LFSA. Applications are evaluated on the information supplied; therefore, answer all questions as
completely as possible
