Young Scholars Program

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation enables high-ability middle and high school students with financial need to realize their full academic potential. Through the Young Scholars Program, the Foundation has to date supported 600 students from across the nation, providing them with individualized educational advising combined with comprehensive financial support from the 8th grade through high school.

Beginning in the eighth grade, the Young Scholars Program, working through fourteen on-staff educational advisers, enables students to:

• Participate in high-quality academic and extracurricular opportunities in their local community, on college campuses, and around the globe.
• Develop the knowledge, talents, and leadership skills to be significant contributors to their field of interest and society at large.
• Set and reach academic and talent goals that will prepare them to be competitive, well-informed applicants for our nation’s best colleges and universities.

We designed the Young Scholars Program to incorporate three important components of support:

• Educational Adviser (EA)
• Individualized Learning Plan (ILP)
• Community

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Young Scholars Program, the applicant must meet the following eligibility requirements:

• Grade level – Entering 8th grade in the fall of 2015.
• Academics – Since the beginning of 6th grade, have earned grades of all or mostly A's in school with no C's or below in core academic subjects (English/language arts, math, science, social studies/history).*
• Testing – The official score report from the applicant’s state standardized testing. If the applicant has taken the SAT or ACT through a regional talent center, he/she should also submit those score reports.
• Income – Family income does not exceed $95,000. The average family income of entering Young Scholars is approximately $25,000. In recent years nearly all Young Scholars have come from families with incomes below $60,000.
• Location – Reside in the U.S. or a U.S. territory and plan to attend high school in the U.S.

The application period for the Cooke Foundation Young Scholars Program will close in two weeks onApril 14, 2015.

KNB Scholarship By Indonesian government

The developing countries certainly need leaders, well-mannered society, educated citizens, and skilled workers for their industry, government, and academia. In this respect, the KNB scholarship offered by the Indonesian government provides the opportunity for potential students in developing countries to develop their knowledge and competencies that will subsequently enhance their chances to fulfil those roles back in their home countries. The KNB scholarship opens the opportunity to experience life in the culturally most diverse nation in the world while studying and earning a master degree.

General Information
The scholarship is offered to potential student from developing countries to earn their Master Degree in one of 13 prominent universities in Indonesia. Officially launched in 2006 by the Directorate General of Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia, this program has been attracting a significant number of applicants, as by 2013, 647 students from 64 countries had been awarded this scholarship.
The program objectives: 
1. To contribute in the human resource development in the developing countries;
2. To promote deeper cultural understanding between developing countries;
3. To strengthen the relationship and cooperation between developing countries.

General Requirements
Maximum age is 35 years old;
Posses a bachelor degree (master degree holder is not eligible to apply for the scholarship);
Have a TOEFL score of 500 or equivalent;
Complete the on-line application form;
Prior to the departure to Indonesia, the successful candidates will have to sign a statement letter provided by the KNB Scholarship management;

Postgraduate Research Scholarships at The University of Sydney

Description
The Faculty of Science offers a limited number of full-time postgraduate research scholarships to outstanding international students wishing to undertake a research doctorate degree (PhD) in the Faculty of Science. Applications are sought from top-performing students currently enrolled in the final year of at least a four-year Bachelor’s degree in Science or a relevant discipline or an equivalent degree (such as a combined Bachelors/Honours/Masters degree), at an international university. The final year of the degree must include an independent research component which accounts for a minimum of 25% of the final year marks awarded. The award of the scholarship is competitive on the basis of academic merit.

Amount awarded
The scholarship consists of the full cost of academic tuition fees plus a stipend equivalent to an Australian Postgraduate Award indexed annually (APA stipend rates for 2015 are $25,849 for full-time students), and is awarded for three years, subject to satisfactory progress, with a possible extension of up to six months.

To be considered for the Dean’s International Postgraduate Research Scholarship applicants must satisfy eligibility criteria.

Commencement January - March 2016:
To be considered for the Dean's International Postgraduate Research Scholarship for commencement from January to March 2016 (Research Periods 1 and 2) applicants must:

    Apply to the Doctor of Philosophy in the Faculty of Science via the online course application, and
    Apply to the Dean’s International Postgraduate Research Scholarship via the online scholarship application, by 30 April 2015.

Commencement July - October 2016:
To be considered for the Dean’s International Postgraduate Research Scholarship for commencement from July to October 2016 (Research Periods 3 and 4) applicants must:

    Apply to Doctor of Philosophy in the Faculty of Science via the online course application, and
    Apply to the Dean's International Postgraduate Research Scholarship via the online scholarship application, by 30 November 2015.

Conditions of award
There are a limited number of Dean’s International Postgraduate Research Scholarships, and applicants should be aware that they are awarded on an academic merit-based, competitive basis.

Eligibility
Applicants must:
    Be currently enrolled in the final year of a four-year Bachelor’s degree in Science or relevant discipline, or an equivalent degree (such as a combined Bachelors/Honours/Masters degree), at an international university (a non-Australian university). The final year of the degree must include a research component which accounts for a minimum of 25% of the year;
    Have achieved a GPA greater than 85 or an average A grade, or have a relevant subject specific GPA of 90, or equivalent;
    May not be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or hold permanent residency in Australia;
    Be commencing full time postgraduate research study at the University for the first time;
    Not be in receipt of any other tuition fee scholarship;
    Successfully complete their 4th year of their current Bachelors Degree in Science meeting the academic requirements of the scholarship and complete in time to commence studies at the University of Sydney in the relevant year and research period.

Selection process
Selection for a Dean’s International Postgraduate Research Scholarship is a merit-based and highly competitive process. Candidates will be selected in accordance with the following criteria:

    Demonstrated academic excellence through current studies; and
    Demonstrated high quality, innovative research capacity.

Applications will be reviewed and final selections decided by a committee comprising senior University of Sydney academic staff, and may include international representatives. The final selection of Dean’s International Postgraduate Research Scholarship candidates will be completed in November. Offer letters will be issued to successful applications shortly thereafter.

LLM in Energy and Natural Resources Law Scholarships for 2015-16

Two full scholarships for 2015-16 for the LLM in Energy and Natural Resources Law programme.

September 2015 entry.

Norton Rose Fulbright LLP, a global legal practice with over 3,800 lawyers and other legal staff based in more than 50 countries across the world, and the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS) are offering two full tuition fee only scholarships for the September 2015 intake for students wishing to follow the LLM in Energy and Natural Resources Law programme. The scholarships are open to all Home/EU or International students, for full-time study only.

For the successful candidate, his/her tuition fees payable to Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) - the equivalent of £12,600 for a Home/EU student or £18,000 for a non-Home/EU student - will be covered entirely by the scholarship. The scholarship does not cover any additional living costs or flights etc.
Internship

In addition to receiving a scholarship, each successful applicant will also be awarded a two-week international internship at the offices of Norton Rose Fulbright LLP. Reasonable additional travel and living costs incurred as a result of taking up this internship will be reimbursed and any necessary work visas will be arranged on the applicant's behalf by Norton Rose Fulbright.

    Application deadline: no later than 16.00 BST on Thursday 30 April 2015.
    You must apply for the LLM in Energy and Natural Resources Law Programme before applying for a scholarship – your application ID number is a requirement. You must have applied for the LLM programme by 17 April 2015 to then be eligible to apply for the scholarship.
