JASSO Student Exchange Support Program Scholarship 2011

Student Exchange Support Program (Scholarship for Short-term Study in Japan). This scholarship is available for qualified international students accepted by Japanese universities or graduate schools under the student exchange agreement on a short-term basis from about three months to one year.
SCHOLARSHIP
For the 2011-2012 academic year:
1.Monthly stipend: ¥80,000 per month (up to 12 months)
2.Relocation allowance: ¥80,000(upon arrival only )

ELIGIBILITY FOR APPLICATION
The applicant must satisfy following conditions:
•MUST hold nationality of countries that have diplomatic relations with Japan.
•DOES NOT hold nationality of Japan.
APPLICATION OVERVIEW Japanese universities submit their yearly student exchange plans to JASSO. According to the yearly plan, JASSO will allocate the quota of scholarships to each Japanese university. Within this quota, Japanese universities will recommend their exchange students to JASSO. The student will be notified of the screening results through the Japanese host university.

•Recommendations will not be accepted from universities without any quota of scholarships.
•All applications must be processed through Japanese universities. Direct applications from overseas universities or students will not be accepted.
•Application deadlines for students will differ at each university. The applicant must contact the university to confirm the application schedule and the necessary documents.

Notes
Students are placed in three groups depending on when the study programs at the Japanese host universities begin.
Different deadlines are set for each group as follows.
1.The 1st Period: for students starting their studies between April 1 and July 31.
2.The 2nd Period: for students starting their studies between August 1 and November 30.
3.The 3rd Period: for students starting their studies between December 1 and March 15.

PhD Scholarships in Particle Physics

The Centre for Particle Physics Phenomenology (CP3-Origins) and the Department of Physics and Chemistry at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense invite applications for two PhD scholarships. We expect the two positions to be filled in the area of strongly interacting theories beyond the Standard Model, collider phenomenology, astroparticle physics, cosmology and lattice field theory.

We are looking for outstanding young and competitive candidates with a clear potential to excel in particle physics.

The Centre for Particle Physics Phenomenology (CP3-Origins) at the department of Physics and Chemistry at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense is a centre of excellence recently established by the Danish National Research Foundation, dedicated to the understanding of the origins of bright and dark matter in the universe. We are among the world leaders in studies of dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking, its phenomenological consequences and the phase diagram of gauge theories.

CP3-Origins offers an extremely dynamical and exciting working environment. We have close collaborations with leading scientists in Europe and the US and the centre is one of the cornerstones of our physics research.

PhD Scholarship on Global Security at DIIS and SDU

As a part of a research project on Globality and Planetary Security, a PhD scholarship is available at the research unit on Defence and Security, Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS), and the Department of Political Science and Public Management, University of Southern Denmark (SDU). The successful applicant will follow the PhD programme at SDU, but the primary workplace will be at DIIS in Copenhagen.

The scholarship is available for appointment for a period of 3 years as of May 1st, 2011 or soon thereafter. The PhD scholarship must be completed over a 3-year period and presupposes enrolment in the PhD programme in Political Science at the Faculty of Social Sciences at SDU.

Globality and Planetary Security is concerned with the articulation of total threats to the planet, particularly in relation to nuclear weapons and climate change. The project studies (i) the sociological, historical and conceptual underpinnings of globality and planetary security, and (ii) investigates the social and political consequences of invoking planetary (in)security in relation to total threats. The project is inspired by recent security theory, contemporary social theories of risk and modernity and critical theory.

The PhD project should focus on how notions of globality and planetary security inform or have informed debates about the nature and management of nuclear weapons in international politics. The project should relate this research to debates about contemporary and future nuclear policy options.

Applications should include a detailed description of the PhD project (PhD proposal) that reflects and develops the overarching research question defined above. The purpose of the PhD proposal is to define the research question in greater detail, including linking the research question to relevant theory, research design and strategies of analysis. The proposal should include a work schedule for the 3-year period and must not exceed 5 pages. A guide to writing a PhD proposal is located here.

Successful applicants must participate in a DIIS-SDU PhD programme that over the 3-year period will train the candidate and embed the project in the overall project entitled Globality and Planetary Security. The programme involves PhD courses, seminars, participation in conferences and workshops as well as participation in DIIS policy-relevant applied research and teaching at SDU. Moreover, the successful candidate is expected to participate in and contribute to the research environment at DIIS and SDU.

LIN Media Expands Minority Scholarship and Training Program with New Digital Media Scholarship and Internship

LIN Media’s Minority Scholarship & Training Program will award one broadcast television scholarship/internship and one digital media scholarship/internship to two ambitious multicultural students in 2011. Both students will each receive a two-year scholarship for up to ten thousand dollars ($10,000) per year, which can be used towards tuition, fees, books, and room and board. In addition, LIN Media will provide each student hands-on training through a paid internship program at one of its 32 television stations around the country. Students are selected for the program based on various criteria, including academic achievement, passion for broadcasting and digital mediums, as well as a strong desire to contribute to the overall advancement of the industry.

The NSA Scholarship Foundation awards an average of 35 scholarships per year in the amount of $1,000 each for accounting students entering their third or fourth year of studies, and $500 each for students entering their second year of studies.

These include scholarships provided by our Affiliated State Organizations (ASOs), corporate and individual donors, and other 501(c)3 organizations.

Special Awards
The Stanley H. Stearman Award is given annually to a relative of an NSA Active or Retired* (living or deceased) member attending college and majoring in accounting. The recipient of this award receives a stipend in the amount of $2,000 per year, not to exceed a three-year period.

*NSA Active or Retired Members ONLY; Student Members ARE NOT eligible to apply. 

The Louis and Fannie Sager Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a graduate of a Virginia public school who is enrolled as an undergraduate and majoring in accounting at a Virginia college or university. The stipend for this award ranges from $500 to $1,000.

Goethe Business School MBA Scholarships 2011

Some important guidelines to consider when applying for Goethe Business School Scholarships:
    * Scholarships are meant to supplement, rather than replace other funding sources.
    * Scholarship amount cover partial costs of the program and may vary based on each individual profile of the applicant. The amount granted is deducted from the overall tuition prior to the start of the program.
    * Applicants for the Goethe MBA or EMFA are allowed to apply for a maximum of two different scholarships as part of their application. Applicants may only be awarded one scholarship in total.
    * Applicants who receive financial support from their company may not qualify for certain scholarships.
    * Applicants who apply for the Goethe Business School Career Loan may not qualify for a scholarship.
    * Applicants must decide within seven days from the date the offer letter is issued to secure their scholarships. Applicants who do not reply by this timeline will forfeit their scholarship award to another qualified applicant.

The Caroline Thomas Memorial Fund Scholarship

The Caroline Thomas Memorial Fund has been established to further research into human security in developing countries by supporting females of outstanding merit and research potential from the African continent who would otherwise not have the opportunity or financial resources to do undertake such work. The fund, which will be run as a charitable trust administered by the University of Southampton, will provide a scholarship to qualified students for a three year doctoral programme in the School of Social Sciences at the University of Southampton with its focus on any aspect of human security in a developing country context.

The fund has been set up in memory of the late Professor Caroline Thomas of the University of Southampton, who devoted her career to the plight of the poor and disadvantaged in developing nations. Caroline's 1987 book, ‘In Search of Security: the Third World in International Relations’ was influential in changing the traditional approach to security issues. Security had previously meant only the military security of the state, but in proposing to broaden the agenda beyond its narrow focus on war and arms control, Caroline sought to include issues such as poverty, health and environmental degradation that confront the people of the developing nations, rather than their states.

Based within the Social Sciences at the University of Southampton, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary school with an international reputation and research expertise in political theory, comparative politics, global politics and international relations. the Society of Women Engineers Scholarship

The SWE Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to women admitted to accredited baccalaureate or graduate programs, in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology and computer science. In 2010, SWE disbursed 170 new and renewed scholarships valued at almost $500,000.

SWE provides one application for sophomores through graduate students and one application for freshmen.  Applicants complete an application and are considered for all scholarships that they are eligible for.  The application for sophomores and above opened December 1st and the application for freshmen opens in March.  Please wait for the freshmen application if you will be a freshman in the fall of 2011.

Grants are announced in the summer (sophomore, junior, senior and graduate students) and late summer/early fall (freshmen and reentry students) for use during the following academic year. Grant payments are made in the fall for corporate-sponsored scholarships and endowed scholarships, upon proof of registration.

Accredited programs are based on ABET accreditation for universities in the U.S.  The list of SWE-approved colleges and universities is the same list as the ABET-accredited programs in engineering (EAC), computing (CAC), and technology (TAC).  Visit abet.org for more information.

In 2010, we launched our first international scholarship. This scholarship will again be awarded.  Students studying a SWE-approved program at one of four universities in the Querétaro, Querétaro, Mexico are eligible.

AARP Women's Scholarship Program

AARP Women's Scholarship Program is about creating chances, fostering opportunities and, ultimately, changing lives. Recipients of these scholarships are diverse and inspirational: A widow finding hope and opportunity through education; a recovering addict achieving her dream of graduating from college; a grandmother raising grandchildren with the hope of achieving a more secure future for her family.

Research shows women are less likely to have enough money in the second half of their lives because of lower earnings and different work patterns. AARP Foundation created the Women's Scholarship Program in August 2007 to help older women overcome financial and employment barriers by allowing them to participate in education and training opportunities they otherwise could not afford. In 2010, more than $450,000 in educational scholarships was awarded to 200 women nationwide.

Priority is given to women in three categories:
    * Those who are raising the children of another family member
    * Those in low-paying jobs with no career opportunities and who are lacking a retirement benefit and/or health insurance
    * Those who have been out of the work force for more than five year

Scholarships may be used for any course of study at an accredited public or private school, including a community college, four-year university or technical school. The money, which is payable to the institution, may be used to pay for tuition, fees and books. Graduate students are discouraged from applying.

Scholarship winners are chosen by an independent selection committee established by AARP Foundation. Selections are on the basis of financial need, personal circumstances and achievements, educational goals, and the likely impact of the scholarship on the women's lives, their families and communities.

Masters Scholarships Awards of £20,000

The University of Warwick is delighted to announce, that in conjunction with the Chancellor’s International Scholarships for graduate research programmes, that three awards of £20,000 are to be made available to three outstanding candidates who wish to undertake a one year taught Masters or Masters by Research programme in any field of study for 2011 entry.
    * 3 awards of £20,000 (pounds sterling) to be offered to successful candidates eligible to pay overseas tuition fee rates for entry in 2011
    * No separate application form required. Admissions tutors in departments will nominate their most outstanding candidates for nomination
    * Nominated candidates will be asked to submit a brief candidacy statement for the award

Each award, totalling £20,000, will be credited towards the successful candidates’ tuition fees, and the remainder will be paid as a stipend to students to contribute towards living costs.

The Davidson Fellows Scholarship

The Davidson Fellows Scholarship awards $50,000, $25,000 and $10,000 scholarships to extraordinary young people under the age of 18 who have completed a significant piece of work.

Application categories are Mathematics, Science, Literature, Music, Technology, Philosophy and Outside the Box. Davidson Fellows are honored every year in Washington, D.C. with Congressional meetings and a special reception.

Eligibility
To be eligible for consideration as a 2011 Davidson Fellow, applicants must:

Be a U.S. citizen residing in the United States, or a Permanent Resident of the United States residing in the United States, or be stationed overseas due to active U. S. military duty.

PhD Scholarship in Magnetocaloric Materials

A postgraduate research scholarship is available for a suitably qualified applicant from Australia or New Zealand for commencement of study in Session 1, 2011. The scholarship will support full-time PhD research study at the Canberra campus of the University of New South Wales (UNSW@ADFA) and consists of a living stipend of $24,060 per annum funded from an ARC grant, plus a contribution towards relocation and travel expenses. Science and Engineering - COSSE Scholarships

The Erasmus Mundus programme "Computer Simulations for Science and Engineering" (COSSE) is a joint initiative of four European universities:

- KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden
- Technical University of Berlin, Germany
- Technical University of Delft, the Netherlands
- Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen- Nürnberg, Germany

The field of computer simulations is of great importance for high-tech industry and scientific/engineering research, e.g. virtual processing, climate studies, fluid dynamics, advanced materials, etc. Often the field is referred to as the third pillar of science complementing theory and experiments.

COSSE is a two-year master's programme offering a double degree from two universities. The students enter one of the universities and continue the second year at one of the other institutions in another country. COSSE offers education of the highest international standard as well as a unique experience of meeting different European cultures, languages, climate and nature.

Students from any country are welcome to apply. A number of Erasmus Mundus scholarships are available.

Star Scholarship from Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) awards

Each year, the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) awards 15 scholarships valued at USD 5,000/year and 15 fellowships valued at USD 10,000/year (one scholarship and fellowship for each SPE region), renewable yearly, for up to four years or until graduation, whichever comes first. Regions may customize the criteria, applications, number and value of the scholarships and fellowships. Thus, the dollar amount of the funding varies among the 15 SPE regions.

Scholarship and Fellowship Deadlines

Applications must be submitted by 1 March annually. SPE will notify recipients by 15 May.

SPE General Scholarship and Fellowship Criteria

The program aims to support students through a maximum of four years of university study or until graduation, provided that they make satisfactory academic progress. Students automatically rotate off the program after graduation or four years, whichever comes first. The SPE Scholarships/Fellowships are awarded to the most deserving candidate from the applications received as determined by the Regional Scholarship Committee.

Applications must be submitted by email or mail to the attention of SPE Regional Scholarship Program to the appropriate SPE Office. All applications must be typed. No handwritten applications will be accepted. In the subject line of the email, you must indicate to which Region you are applying. Apply to the region where your permanent address is located.
