George J. Mitchell Scholarship

The George J. Mitchell Scholarship is a national competitive award
sponsored by the US-Ireland Alliance. Named in honor of the former
U.S. Senator's pivotal contribution to the Northern Ireland peace
process, the Mitchell is designed to introduce and connect upcoming
generations of future American leaders to the island of Ireland, while
recognizing and fostering intellectual achievement, leadership, and a
commitment to public service and community.

All applications for the Mitchell Scholarship must be submitted
electronically through this website. Applicants are encouraged to
begin preparing their applications well in advance of the deadline.
Supporting documents must be received in our office by Monday, October
5, 2009.

Master's Scholarships for Public Policy and Good Governance (PPGG)

The programme offers very good graduates with a first university degree the chance to obtain a Master's degree in disciplines that are of special relevance for the social, political and economic development of their home country.

Scholarships are for (generally) two-year Master courses at a German institution of higher education. The successful candidates will study on one of the selected Master courses (see a list on scholarship's information). The courses have an international orientation and are taught in German and/or English. The scholarship holders will study in groups and be offered special tutoring at their host institutions.

Who can apply?
The scholarship scheme is open to candidates from Africa, Latin
America, South Asia, Southeast Asia as well as from countries in the
Middle East.

Erma Byrd Scholarship Program

The Erma Byrd Scholarship Program provides scholarships to individuals
pursuing a course of study that will lead to a career in industrial
health and safety occupations, including mine safety. This program is
designed to increase the skilled workforce in these fields at both the
fundamental skills level and the advanced skills level. The program
has a service obligation component, which requires recipients of the
scholarship to begin employment in a career position related to
industrial health and safety no later than six months after completion
of the degree program, and to continue to work in a career position
related to industrial health and safety, including mine safety, for a
period of one year. The scholarships are available to students in the
following eligible areas of study related to industrial health and
safety:

· mining and mineral engineering, industrial engineering

· occupational safety and health technology/technician

· quality control technology/technician

· industrial safety technology/technician

· hazardous materials information systems technology/technician

· mining technology/technician and

· occupational health and industrial hygiene

CONVERGE - a graduate preview weekend

CONVERGE is a graduate preview weekend held on the MIT campus during
the fall. Interested students may apply, and if invited, may attend
the weekend with all expenses paid. See the schedule for a detailed
