Admission requirements
Due to the rigorous intellectual demands of the PhD programme, we look for applicants with evidence of a high level of scholastic ability in both quantitative and qualitative skills. Each year, about 10 to 15 of the finest applicants are admitted to the programme. Pre-requisites for application to the PhD programme:
* A good Bachelor's or Master's degree. We will consider your academic records and performance of your undergraduate and graduate studies if any.
* Working experience is not compulsory.
* A good GMAT or GRE score (taken within 5 years).* This is mandatory.
* A good IELTS or TOEFL score (taken within 2 years).* This is mandatory if English was not the medium of instruction at tertiary level.
*Outstanding intellectual ability and motivation.
***Notes on GMAT, GRE, IELTS and TOEFL:
We do not have any cut-off point for these tests. However, you may note that the median for our most recent intake was 706 for GMAT, 1308 for GRE (verbal & quantitative), 610 for TOEFL and 6.5 for IELTS.
Our institution code is V24-ZV-92 for GMAT, 0291 for GRE and 8521 for TOEFL.
Selection
The PhD committee will invite you for an interview to ascertain that the PhD programme is suited for you. The interview takes place between January and March.
Financial aid & scholarship
You will be offered financial aid in the form of research and teaching assistantship. There is no need for a separate application for financial aid. The financial aid package includes
a monthly stipend (living allowance) and a waiver of tuition fees.
The monthly stipend ranges from $2,000 to S$2,500.
We also provide other forms of monetary assistance such as conference travel grants for you to attend and present your research work in overseas conferences. The financial assistance will continue depending on your performance as a student.
