Harvard Financial Aid Initiative (HFAI)

Students from families with incomes less than $60,000 who are accepted
to Harvard under regular admissions policies have no expected parent
contribution for their education. Additionally, families with incomes
between $60,000 and $80,000 have seen their expected parent
contributions significantly reduced. Financial aid is available to all
students based on assessed need. Families with incomes up to $180,000
have an average expected parent contribution of 10% or less of their
income and many families in even higher income brackets may also
receive substantive financial aid.

Who is eligible for HFAI?

To be considered under HFAI, students must apply to and gain admission
to Harvard College. However, admission to Harvard is based on
achievement and promise without regard to financial need; the
financial paperwork is handled separately, and applying for financial
aid does not jeopardize a student's chances for admission. The
application fee normally associated with admissions can also be waived
upon request in yet another effort to facilitate the initiative’s
goals.

IBA Scholarship Fund 2010, Australia

The Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) Scholarship Fund provides financial support to enable recipients to achieve nationally recognised qualifications – with a focus on financial, commercial and/or economic management. IBA is seeking applicants who are able to share their qualifications to enhance their community’s economic and financial development.

Scholarships are intended for those who face financial barriers that might otherwise restrict their options for further study. IBA’s Scholarship Fund acknowledges that mature-age students are often required to make great personal and financial sacrifices in order to complete qualifications that will help advance their personal and career goals.

The IBA Scholarship Fund provides recipients with a broad range of financial support covering not only course fees, but day-to-day study expenses (telephone, broadband, child care, transport) and costs that may arise if living away from home (relocation costs, accommodation costs and travel costs for family visits).

What type of studies does the IBA Scholarship Fund support?

Your studies should be related to the fields of commercial and economic management; for example, business, accounting, financial management, commerce, tourism management, and governance.

Qualifications can be attained through Vocational Education and Training (VET) or TAFE courses, Undergraduate degrees or Capability Training short courses.

Epidemic Intelligence Service

The Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) is a 2-year, postgraduate
program of service and on-the-job training for health professionals
interested in the practice of epidemiology. Each year, EIS provides
approximately 90 persons, who have been selected from around the
world, opportunities to gain hands-on experience in epidemiology at
CDC or state or local health departments. EIS Officers, often called
CDC's "disease detectives," have gone on to occupy leadership
positions at CDC and other public health agencies nationally and
internationally. However, the experience also is useful for health
professionals who want to gain a population health perspective.

Persons with a strong interest in applied epidemiology who meet at
least one of the following qualifications may apply to EIS:

· physicians with >1 year of clinical training;

· persons with a PhD, DrPH, or other doctoral degree in
epidemiology, biostatistics, the social or behavioral sciences,
natural sciences, or the nutrition sciences;

· dentists, physician assistants, and nurses with an MPH or

HUMAN SCIENCES: Department of Linguistics HEARing CRC Scholarships (LING/HEARing)

Three full time domestic PhD scholarships are available in the Department of Linguistics, Macquarie University, in conjunction with the HEARing Co-operative Research Centre. The PhD projects are listed below.

Project 1: Human Brain Mapping of Tinnitus and its Remediation (LING/HEARing#1)

This project aims to assess the subjective changes in tinnitus throughout a tinnitus remediation program and correlate this with changes in cortical auditory activity measured objectively. It also aims to identify whether objective measurement can be used to tailor remediation programs to individuals. Suitable applicants would have a background in the measurement of evoked potentials.

Project 2: Research the barriers and facilitators to successful hearing rehabilitation for older adults (LING/HEARing#2)

The project will comprehensively examine the barriers and facilitators to successful hearing rehabilitation for adults with hearing impairment. Both quantitative and qualitative methodologies will be needed to address the project objectives. The outcomes of this project have major significance for improving rehabilitation services to adults with hearing impairment in Australia. This scholarship would be suitable to applicants from a range of academic backgrounds (e.g., audiology, speech pathology, psychology, linguistics, education) who have completed study that allows entry to a PhD (i.e., masters, honours qualifications). The specific project to be undertaken will be developed in collaboration with the research team.

Project 3: Central Auditory Disabilities in Children with Language Impairment (LING/HEARing#3)

The project aims to investigate and identify auditory processing abilities in children with language impairment (LI) that may be contributing to problems with language and learning. Suitable applicants would have a background in audiology, speech pathology, psychology or a related area.

These scholarships are available to domestic students. Applicants should have equivalent research qualifications to an Australian undergraduate degree with first class honours (such as a Masters degree with a substantial thesis component) in a relevant discipline (such as Cognitive Psychology, Behavioural Neuroscience). Candidates who have experience working with patient groups and/or neuroimaging are particularly encouraged to apply.

The scholarship pays a living allowance, currently $20,427 per annum, tax exempt (2009 rate), and the tenure is a maximum 3 years full time, subject to satisfactory progress. Additional support for projects and for national and international travel will also be available from the Centre/Faculty. Scholarship top-up funding may be available from the Department.

Radboud Scholarship Programme

The Radboud Scholarship Programme offers a selected number of talented prospective non-EEA students the opportunity to receive a scholarship to pursue an English-taught Master’s degree programme at Radboud University Nijmegen.

The Radboud Scholarship Programme is very selective and is only intended for talented students who have obtained outstanding study results and are highly motivated to pursue a Master’s degree programme at RadboudUniversity.

Radboud Scholarship
Each year 20 Radboud Scholarships are awarded to selected talented non-EEA students for the duration of a Master’s degree programme. This means that the duration of the scholarship can vary: a one-year scholarship for a one-year programme and a two-year scholarship for a two-year programme. Selected scholarship receivers will not receive a grant as such: they will have to pay the regular tuition fee for EEA students: in 2009-2010 a tuition fee of €1,620 instead of €6,125, €8,165 or €12,245 depending on the Master’s programme they are applying for. The Radboud Scholarship also covers additional costs for non-EEA students such as costs for visa, residence permit and health and liability insurance.

Eligibility requirements
Candidates who want to become eligible for a scholarship under the Radboud Scholarship Programme must meet the requirements for eligibility. This means that applicants should:
1. hold a non-EU/EEA passport and should not be eligible for the lower tuition fee.
2. have been fully admitted to the English-taught Master’s degree programme.
3. be able to comply with the conditions for obtaining a visa for the Netherlands.
4. have been enrolled at RadboudUniversity as a full-time student for the academic year and Master’s degree programme for which the scholarship will be awarded.

Selection criteria
Candidates who want to take part in the Radboud Scholarship Programme must meet the following criteria:
1. Candidates are talented students: this means that they have outstanding study results in their present field of study;
2. Candidates are expected to be promising students in their desired field of study at RadboudUniversity;
3. Candidates can prove their academic quality and results of their prior education for example through grades, test scores, publications and two letters of recommendation;
4. Candidates have written a motivation letter.

Davidson Fellows Scholarships

The Davidson Fellows Scholarship awards $50,000, $25,000 and $10,000
scholarships to extraordinary young people under the age of 18 who
have completed a significant piece of work.

Application categories are Mathematics, Science, Literature, Music,
Technology, Philosophy and Outside the Box. Davidson Fellows are
honored every year in Washington, D.C. with Congressional meetings and
a special reception.

Scholarships for Master's students : Canon Foundation in Europe

Annually, the Canon Foundation in Europe grants up to 15 Fellowships to highly qualified European and Japanese researchers.
The candidates hold a doctorate or at least a Master’s degree. They are eligible during the ten-year period following the successful completion of their PhD or MA degree. Extensions to the ten-year rule are possible in principle in case of exceptional circumstances which should be explained in the application and supporting documents are required. The European Fellowship holders pursue a period of research in Japan whereas the Japanese Fellows do their research at host institutions in Europe. The Fellowships are awarded for periods of minimum three months and maximum one year. The Fellowships are awarded regardless of discipline and existing employment positions.

Canon Fellows from Europe are free to choose their host institutes and hosts in Japan. The same freedom is given to Japanese Canon Fellows coming to Europe. Canon Foundation Research Fellowships may be applied for when an agreement on co-operation and on a research plan has been reached between the guest researcher and the proposed host institution.

Applications can also be submitted by members of commercial, industrial, governmental or professional organisations.
It is strongly recommended that the candidates obtain the current issue of the application form from this website (download it here) or at the Secretariat of the Foundation, in Amstelveen - the Netherlands.

Application procedure for Fellowships
The annual deadline for applications is September 15. Consideration of the applications takes several months. The Selection Committee's final decisions are convened to the applicants before end December of that year. Therefore, the earliest possible date to begin the Fellowship is January 1 of the following year.
Applications should be submitted in full (including the acceptance by the proposed host institute and the research plan) to the Secretariat of the Canon Foundation in Europe well in advance of the deadline.

It is important to note that no correspondence is entered into by the Foundation in regard to decisions taken on any individual application and in view of the large number of applicants, no negative inference should be drawn from the failure of a candidate to secure a Fellowship.

The financial support for Research Fellows ranges from 22,500 Euro to 27,500 Euro per year and pro-rata for different periods. The Canon Foundation gives priority to those who plan to travel to Europe or Japan rather than prolong a current stay.

Dorothy Hodgkin Postgraduate Awards 2010/11

Dorothy Hodgkin Postgraduate Awards (DHPA) are supported by a combination of the UK Research Councils and industry. They are highly prestigious and attract full international tuition fees as well as providing a maintenance stipend (£13,290 in 2009/10) and support towards project expenses. The University is typically allocated between 4-8 awards per academic year.

Eligibility
The scheme is open only to student nationals from:

* India
* China
* Hong Kong
* South Africa
* Brazil
* Russia and the developing world, as defined by the Development Assistance Committee of the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development)

The eligible countries are all those in Part I of the list, plus Russia and Hong Kong. With the exception of Russia and Hong Kong, none of the countries in Part II of the list are eligible.

Successful candidates are expected to hold the equivalent of a UK First Class honours degree and have graduated within the top 5-10% of their academic cohort. Candidates will also be expected to have proven research potential as demonstrated by their contribution to novel research, significant publication output and ability to demonstrate independent research skills and techniques.

It is expected that DHPA candidates must:

* be liable for the international rate of University tuition fee and fall within one of the nationalities eligible for the awards
* be able to demonstrate outstanding research potential and academic achievement
* have not previously studied at PhD or equivalent level (either in the UK or overseas)
* have not have held a DHPA award before
* have established contact with their proposed academic PhD supervisor at Manchester and have their full support for an award
* have submitted a formal PhD application or be holding an offer of study for entry no earlier than September 2009

Applicants must be intending to undertake research within a discipline area rated at grade 5 or 5* in the 2001 UK Government Research Assessment Exercise (RAE). If you are unsure whether your discipline area qualifies for this please contact the Faculty for clarification.

Often Dorothy Hodgkin awards are targeted at nationals from specific countries or working in certain disciplines so academic eligibility alone is not always enough to qualify you for award consideration. Details on such restrictions will be posted on this website as soon as they are known.

Awards are renewable for three to four years of PhD study subject to satisfactory academic progress.

Wingate Foundation Scholarships

The Wingate Foundation offers scholarship support to candidates from commonwealth countries seeking financial assistance towards their PhD projects. They are directed at applicants who are due to conduct pioneering, interdisciplinary research of scientific value. Projects must not fall into any conventional funding categories as the Foundation aims to promote research that is truly cross-disciplinary.

The scholarships are designed to help with the costs of a specific project that may last up to 3 years. The average total award is about £6,500 and the maximum in any one year is £10,000.

Applicants applying within the area of medical research must provide evidence that the proposed project is of a cross-disciplinary nature, not appropriate to the traditional major medical research funding bodies. In addition, the following entry criteria must be satisfied, as candidates must be:

* living in the British Isles during the period of application
* able to satisfy the Scholarship Committee that they need financial support to undertake the work projected
* able to show why the project (if it takes the form of academic research) is unlikely to attract Research Council, British Academy or major agency funding
* citizens of the United Kingdom or other Commonwealth country, Ireland or Israel; or citizens of another EU country (provided they have been resident in the United Kingdom at least 3 years)

6 PhD or Early Stage Researcher positions Geological Time Scale

The scientific goal of the network is to establish the next generation standard Geological Time Scale with unprecedented accuracy, precision, resolution and stability for the last 100 Myr through integration and intercalibration of state-of-the-art numerical dating. We subdivided the research programme on scientific grounds around three ‘time slices’ tasks: Neogene, Paleogene and Cretaceous.

The Neogene time scale is astronomically dated but this dating needs to be fine-tuned. Radio-isotopic dating of Neogene ash layers is challenging. Comparison with astronomical ages offers excellent opportunities for gaining insight into isotope systematics, such as potential mineral residence times (in U/Pb dating) and the age of mineral dating standards (40Ar/39Ar dating). Evidently, the outcome of the Neogene projects is crucial for the work carried out in the older, Paleogene and late Cretaceous intervals and thus for GTSnext as a whole.

• MSc degree in Earth Sciences or equivalent giving access to post-graduate research study;
• Less than 4 years research experience after completion of Diploma/Master's degree;
• PhD has not previously been awarded.

Remuneration for each position will be in accordance with the regulations of the Marie Curie ITN scheme.

This is achieved by providing post-graduate scholarships for
Indonesians to study in Australia and by working in close cooperation
with the Indonesian Government to deliver a program which is flexible
to Indonesia's human resource development needs.

ELIGIBILITY
In General, Candidates must :

* Be an Indonesian citizen and not have permanent residence in
Australia or New Zealand;
* Not be married or engaged to a person who is eligible to hold
Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residence;
* Satisfy Australian Government requirements for international
student entry to Australia (health, character etc);
* Not hold a scholarship that would give similar benefits;
* Not have held an Australian Government Scholarship in the 12
months preceding the application;
* Be applying to commence a new course of study and not be seeking
support through ADS for a course already commenced in Australia;
* Be able to take up the scholarship in the year for which it is
offered; and
* Satisfy the admission requirements of the Australian tertiary
institution in which the course is to be undertaken.

Specifically, Candidates must :

* Be applying for courses that fall within the four areas of
development priority;
* Have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.9 (on a scale of
maximum 4.0) and an English language proficiency of at least 5.0 in
IELTS (or 500 in Institutional TOEFL or equivent). The IELTS or TOEFL
result must be current (a test result obtained in 2008 or 2009 will be
considered current);
* Already hold an undergraduate degree, if applying for a Masters;
* Already have a Masters, if applying for a Doctorate;
* Apply for a degree at a level higher than their current highest
qualification;
* If applying for a Doctorate, applicants must be staff of
universities, higher education institutions, research institutes, key
policy makers and targeted candidates in other agencies associated
with AusAID activities. It is highly desirable for Doctorate
applicants to have a letter of support from an Australian university
for their proposed field of study;
* Answer all relevant questions on the application form;
* Be willing and available to take full-time (Monday - Friday,
08.00 - 16.00)English for Academic Purposes(EAP) training in Indonesia
prior to studying in Australia, if offered a scholarship; and
* Be not older than 42 years old at time of application.

NUMBER OF AWARDS AND STUDY OPTIONS

The number of ADS awards each year will depend on Australian
government budget appropriations. In the 2009/2010 ADS cycle, 300 ADS
scholarships are available for commencement in 2010/2011. The
scholarships are allocated as follows:

* 2/3 of all awards will be offered to applicants from the public
sector category;
* 1/3 of all awards will be offered to applicants from the open
category;
* Up to 50% of awards overall will be offered to applicants from
the Targeted Category;
* Up to 30% of all awards will be offered to applicants from
Geographic Focus Areas.The geographic focus will include East Nusa
Tenggara, West Nusa Tenggara, Papua, West Papua, and Aceh;;
* 90% of all awards will be offered at Masters level (270) and 10%
of all awards will be offered at PhD level (30); and
* An equal number of awards will be offered to males and females

LENGTH OF STUDY AND COURSE OPTIONS

Scholarships will be available for full-time study of an Australian
post-graduate qualification for the minimum period required to
complete the award through the relevant Australian university,
selected from AusAID contracted universities (normally a maximum of 2
years for Masters and 4 years for Doctorate).

National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program

Now accepting applications for Loan Repayment Awards funded by $200
million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds. Applications
will be accepted continuously until funds are expended or September
30, 2010, whichever comes first.

The National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program provides
$50,000 (or the outstanding balance of qualifying student loans if it
is less than $50,000), tax free, to primary care medical, dental and
mental health clinicians in exchange for two years of service at an
approved site in a Health Professional Shortage Area. Upon completion
of the service commitment, clinicians may be eligible to apply for
additional support for extended service.

ANNOUNCEMENT FOR 2010 FULBRIGHT JUNIOR RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Thailand-U.S. Educational Foundation (Fulbright Thailand) in cooperation with the Thailand Research Fund (TRF) are pleased to announce the “Fulbright-Thailand Research Fund Junior Research Scholarship Program,” which is aimed to develop the capabilities of Thai university staff members to gain six months of research experience in the United States as part of their doctoral dissertation requirements.

Up to seven (7) grants will be available for the 2010 academic year. Two (2) will be awarded under the Fulbright program and five (5) will be under the Fulbright-TRF partnership. For the grant sponsored by TUSEF, benefits are intended to cover round-trip international airfare, monthly stipend for six months, books and supplies allowance, and an excess baggage allowance.

An applicant must be a Thai university staff member at a tertiary level institution who is undertaking graduate work at the Ph.D. level in a Thai university; have the concurrence of the university Ph.D. program in which he/she is enrolled; have a paper-based TOEFL official score report of 525 or above (or at least 195 from a computer-based test or 71 from an internet-based test) or have IELTS official score report of 6.5 or above and obtain written confirmation (a letter of invitation) from a U.S. professor/scientist at the host institution that s/he will supervise the research

Scholarships full-time MSc in Management 2009-2010

Nyenrode Business Universiteit offers a significant number of scholarships to candidates who have been admitted to the MSc 2009/2010 program. Each scholarship is worth at least € 8.000 and each recipient will also be assigned an experienced business manager as a personal coach.The scholarships are donated by companies, the Stichting Nyenrode Fonds (Nyenrode Foundation) and Nyenrode’s dedicated alumni.

Application
The MSc scholarships program consist of two rounds, with two different deadlines.

Round 1
Candidates who have been admitted to the MSc program are welcome to apply for the scholarships by submitting an essay. The essays will be assessed and the three best candidates per scholarship will be invited to make a scholarship presentation. A scholarship jury will select the scholarship winner.
Scholarship application deadline: May 25, 2009.

Round 2
The second scholarship round takes place at the start of the Main Phase of the MSc program (January 2010). Those students starting the main phase who did not win a scholarship in the first round, are more than welcome to participate. The scholarships in the second round are offered by more than 20 recognized companies. Scholarships will be awarded based on: a letter of motivation, CV, presentation and personal interview.
More information about this round will be communicated during the Adaptation Phase of the Msc program (September-December 2009).
