Loomer-Mortenson Scholarships

The ACA International Education Foundation (ACAEF) is continuing to focus on increasing educational opportunities through its Loomer-Mortenson Scholarship Program, and applications for 2017 are now available.
“The Loomer-Mortenson Scholarship Program, because of members’ continued support of the ACAEF, presents a significant opportunity for industry professionals and their children to further their education,” said Jim Richards, chair of the ACAEF Board.
This year, the ACAEF will select 15 scholarship recipients. The first-place prize is $10,000, twice the size of last year’s prize, and total of $30,000 will be awarded. One second-place recipient will be awarded $5,000; one third-place recipient will be awarded $3,000 and 12 fourth-place recipients will receive $1,000 each.
ACA International encourages members, company and state unit leaders to share the Loomer-Mortenson Scholarship opportunity with their entire staff and colleagues in the industry through their website, newsletters or internal email updates.
Scholarship applicants must be a current employee—or child of an employee—at a company affiliated with the credit and collection industry. Winners will be selected based on their cumulative grade point average and a two- to three-page essay on the value of consumer credit to our nation’s economy. Scholarship recipients must enroll in at least 12 credit hours at an accredited college, university, vocational-technical college or community college within 12 months of winning the award.
The scholarship program was created in the memory of ACA member Robert E. Loomer and ACA staff member Irvin “Dempsey” Mortenson.
Winners of the Loomer-Mortenson Scholarships will be announced at the ACA International 2017 Convention & Expo, held July 16-18 in Seattle.
Applications for the Loomer-Mortenson Scholarships are due by May 15, 2017. Applications should be emailed to foundation@acainternational.org or mailed to:
