Bournemouth MBA Scholarships

The Business School launches new MBA Scholarships for students looking to start the Bournemouth MBA in September 2013.

The Business School is delighted to offer six fully–funded places for UK/EU and International students offered a place to start the Bournemouth MBA in September 2013. These scholarships are worth £15,000 each, covering the full course fee.

In addition, we are offering six part–funded places for International (non-EU) students looking to commence the Bournemouth MBA in September 2013. These scholarships are worth £7,500 each, covering half of the course fee.

The scholarships are for full–time students only. They are not available for students wishing to study part-time.

Scholarship selection criteria
Your eligibility for the fully–funded scholarship of £15,000 will be based on academic merit, work experience and an outstanding personal profile as evidenced in your personal statement. The fully–funded scholarships are open to UK/EU and International (non–EU) students who have been offered a place on the Bournemouth MBA to start in September 2013.

Applications for the part–funded scholarship of £7,500 will be assessed on academic merit and only International (non–EU) students offered a place on the Bournemouth MBA may apply.

The scholarships are offered in addition to the MBA Director’s Scholarship. You may apply for the MBA Director’s Scholarship but you can only be in receipt of one scholarship.

NIH Undergraduate Scholarship Program (UGSP)

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Undergraduate Scholarship Program (UGSP) offers competitive scholarships to students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are committed to careers in biomedical, behavioral, and social science health-related research. The program offers:
    Scholarship support
    Paid research training at the NIH during the summer
    Paid employment and training at the NIH after graduation

Scholarship support
The NIH UGSP will pay up to $20,000 per academic year in tuition, educational expenses, and reasonable living expenses to scholarship recipients. Scholarships are awarded for 1 year, and can be renewed up to 4 years.

Research Training at the NIH
For each full or partial scholarship year, you are committed to two NIH service obligations. The obligations are actually benefits of the UGSP, providing you with invaluable research training and experience at the NIH.

    10-week Summer Laboratory Experience. After each year of scholarship support, you will train for 10 weeks as a paid summer research employee in an NIH research laboratory. This employment occurs after the receipt of the scholarship award. Each scholar will be assigned to an NIH researcher and an NIH postdoctoral fellow, who will serve as mentors. You will also attend formal seminars and participate in a variety of programs.
    Employment at the NIH after Graduation. After graduation, you will continue your training as a full-time employee in an NIH research laboratory. You must serve 1 year of full-time employment for each year of scholarship.

Eligibility requirements
You must meet all of these requirements in order to be eligible for admission into the UGSP.
- U.S.A. citizen or U.S.A. permanent resident
- Enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a full-time student at an accredited 4-year undergraduate institution located in the United States of America
- Undergraduate University Grade Point Average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0-point scale or within the top 5 percent of your class

Scholarships for PhD in Economics and Finance

The PhD in Economics and Finance at Università Bocconi is a 4-year full-time program designed for highly qualified and motivated students who wish to acquire first rate research skills. It started in 2010 with the merge between the PhD programs in Economics and in Finance.

The program has been organized within the two curricula of Economics and Finance (students select one curriculum when they apply). By its nature, the program is multidisciplinary and students have the option to choose from a wide range of electives. Dedicated mentorship and support are offered to students throughout their time at Bocconi.


Our PhD classes are enriched by the interaction among students from all over the world, with backgrounds not only in economics and finance, but also other disciplines such as engineering and statistics. International exchanges are promoted within the framework of the European Doctoral Group in Economics (http://www.edge-page.net/).

Faculty members are highly performing in terms of international publications and are active members of the international community. They publish in or serve on the editorial boards of leading research journals, such as American Economic Review, Econometrica, Journal of Econometrics, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Finance, Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of Political Economy, Mathematical Finance, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Review of Economic Studies, and many others. At the first step, up to 10 PhD fellowships (which cover four years of study) are available for the PhD in Economics and Finance. Afterwards, other positions (with or without fellowship) can be allocated according to merit to the PhD in Economics and Finance.

MMMF grant for women from developing countries

For students from developing countries who are currently studying in the United States or Canada, the MMMF awards grants of approximately $12,000 each; grants are not renewable.  The MMMF also typically invites the recipients to Washington DC to participate in a three day Awards Program organized in their honor.
A woman is eligible to apply for an MMMF grant if she meets all the following criteria:

    has a record of service to women and children and a commitment to improve the lives of women and children in developing countries
    resides in the U.S. or Canada at the time she submits the application
    is enrolled (in residence) at an accredited U.S. or Canadian educational institution for the academic year 2012-2013, and intends to be enrolled for the 2013-2014 academic year
    will use the grant toward the completion of her degree
    is a national of a lower or middle income developing member country, as designated by the MMMF Country Eligibility List
    is not a U.S. or Canadian citizen, permanent U.S. resident or Canadian Landed Immigrant
    intends to return to her country (or other developing country) within two years of completing use of the MMMF grant and perform at least two years of service
    demonstrates financial need and satisfactory academic performance
    is at least 25 years old by December 31, 2012
    is not related to a World Bank Group staff member or his/her spouse

There are no exceptions to the MMMF educational grant criteria listed above.

Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellowship Program

The Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellowship Program is Now Accepting Applications for the 2013-2014

Eligibility
Eligibility for the Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellowship requires that all applicants:
- Be a U.S. citizen at the time of applying (December 5, 2012);
- Have a minimum of five years full-time classroom teaching experience prior to completing the application;
- Have been teaching full-time in a public or private elementary or secondary school for at least five of the last seven years in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) discipline;
- Be currently employed full-time in a public or private elementary or secondary school or school district;
- Be able to provide a letter of recommendation from a school district official as one of their three required letters of recommendation; and
- Be able obtain approval for leave of absence from teaching in order to participate in the program for the full 11 months.

In addition:
    Current and former Einstein Fellows are not eligible to apply for a second fellowship.
    Eligible individuals may apply a maximum of 3 times within a 6 year period.

Einstein Fellowship Benefits
- Einstein Fellows spend 11 months in a Federal Agency or U.S. Congressional office engaged in education policy and/or program related activities, bringing their experience as an educator to the offices in which they serve.
- The Triangle Coalition provides a program orientation in September and professional development session for Fellows throughout the year, including opportunities for Fellows to interact with various organizations, associations and experts who focus on STEM education issues and are located in the Washington Metropolitan area.
- Host agencies provide a designated office space and agency/office specific orientation and training.
- Einstein Fellows receive a monthly stipend of $6,000 plus a $1,000 housing allowance.
- Einstein Fellows have a travel allowance for approved travel related to their host agency assignments and their own professional development. The travel stipends vary by agency, but average a maximum of $3,800 per year.
- Einstein Fellows also are reimbursed for moving/relocations expenses up to a maximum amount that varies by host agency.

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program

Honoring the legacy and character of our nation’s 40th President, the GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program rewards college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with financial assistance to pursue higher education.

Each year, the Program selects numerous recipients to receive a $10,000 scholarship renewable for up to an additional three years – up to $40,000 total per recipient. Awards are for undergraduate study only, and may be used for education-related expenses, including tuition, fees, books, supplies, room, and board. In addition, Scholars are invited to participate in a special awards program.

To be eligible for this award, applicants must:
• demonstrate at school, at the workplace, and within the community the attributes of leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship;
• demonstrate strong academic performance (minimum 3.0 grade point average/4.0 scale or equivalent);
• demonstrate financial need;
• be citizens of the United States of America;
• be high school seniors attending high school in the United States and graduating in winter 2012 or spring 2013; and
• plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study toward a bachelor’s degree at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States for the entire 2013-2014 academic year.

In addition, semifinalists must be nominated by an eligible community leader, such as a high school principal, elected official or executive director of a nonprofit organization, and must provide documentation to certify academic performance and financial need. Finalists will be interviewed via Skype or telephone by a member of the selection committee. National University of Singapore NGS Scholarship

The NGS Scholarship is awarded to talented students with an aptitude for innovative, high calibre PhD research.

Terms
    Monthly stipend of S$3,200 up to 4 years of the PhD studies, or up to date of graduation, whichever is earlier.
    Other allowances include :  computer allowance,  book allowance, conference allowance.
    Student must commit to PhD from the outset, cannot exit with MSc.

The terms for the NGS Scholarship are being reviewed. Revised terms of the Scholarship will be implemented from the January 2014 intake onwards.
Please refer to NUS or NGS website regularly for updates.

Eligibility
    Opens worldwide.
    Graduates with a passion for research.
    Graduates with at least 2nd Upper Honours, or equivalent qualifications.
    GRE is compulsory for students applying from overseas. Only strongly recommended for graduates from local institutions, e.g. NUS or NTU.
    TOEFL is compulsory (ONLY applicable for applicants whose native tongue or medium of undergraduate instruction is not in English).

Condition
    Students are not eligible for the President's Graduate Fellowship (PGF).

La Trobe’s Academic Excellence Scholarships (AES)

La Trobe’s Academic Excellence Scholarships (AES) are targeted towards high achieving international students from all countries across all of La Trobe’s undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs.

Who is eligible?
- citizens of countries other than Australia or New Zealand
- commencing international students wanting to undertake undergraduate and postgraduate coursework, full degrees at La Trobe in 2013
- applicants who scored a minimum of 80 per cent or equivalent in their previous degree/award
-  students who meet or will meet the University’s academic and English entry requirements at the commencement date of their course (and have received an offer at the time of applying for this scholarship).
Note: applicants need to meet all the criteria above.

How to apply
Applicants are required to have an offer to study in a degree program commencing in 2013 at La Trobe University at the time of applying for this scholarship.

Tenure
The scholarships are non-renewable tuition fee awards of A$10 000-$20 000 paid across a maximum period of two semesters (or twelve months). Recipients of the scholarship would be required to pay for any difference in fees for their first two semesters, fees for the remainder of their course and also Overseas Student Health Cover. These scholarships are not renewable and do not cover living costs.

Continuation of the scholarship into a second semester (where relevant) is subject to satisfactory progress and continued enrolment in the program of study for which the scholarship was awarded. Maintaining a C grade average is required, and satisfactory progress will be monitored.

Grant for Japan-related Research Projects

Purpose of the Program:
   The program aims at enhancing mutual understanding between Asian countries and Japan through promoting research projects in the field of the social sciences or humanities that are related to Japan.

Eligible Projects for Application:
   Any research project to be carried out by individual or a group in the field of the social sciences or humanities that is related to Japan.

Qualification of Applicant:
   Researcher shall be of Southeast or East Asian (non Japanese) nationality, living outside Japan. Awarded researcher must conduct the proposed research by himself or herself.

Fiscal 2012 Program:

   Application period : September 1 ~ October 31, 2012
  Grant period :  One year (April 2013 through March 2014), but can be extended by another 6 months maximum if required.
  Grant budget :  Approx.55 million in total, with approx. 70 projects to be selected

SCHOLARSHIP FOR WATER AND SANITATION PROFESSIONALS AT UNESCO-IHE

The Rotary Scholarships for Water and Sanitation Professionals have been designed to promote long-term productive relationships between Rotarians and highly skilled water and sanitation professionals in their communities. Rotary scholars will benefit from the support they receive through regular contact with sponsoring Rotarians from their home country and the opportunity to interact with Rotarians in the Netherlands. After graduating, scholars’ expertise will be put to work improving water and sanitation conditions in their own community with a project the scholar and sponsoring Rotarians will design together.

In addition, Rotary Foundation alumni are part of an extensive network of fellow Rotary scholarship recipients and Rotarians worldwide. Becoming involved with a local Rotary club and the alumni association allows scholars to stay connected to Rotary’s global community and resources.

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements
Students eligible for this scholarship must be provisionally admitted to one of the following degree programs at UNESCO-IHE (joint programs are not eligible):
    MSc in Municipal Water and Infrastructure
    MSc in Water Management
    MSc in Water Science and Engineering

Students must also live or work in one of the eligible countries. Please review the Scholar Eligibility Requirements for a list of eligible countries, and additional requirements.

Application Process
Students provisionally admitted to one of the three eligible UNESCO-IHE academic programs will seek the sponsorship of their local Rotary club or district. Please review the scholarship application form for details regarding the application process.

Completed applications must be received by TRF from sponsor Rotarians no later than 15 July of the year in which studies begin. Scholarship awards will be made on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications submitted directly to TRF by the student will not be considered.

TRF awards scholarships in the amount of €25,000. Funding to cover additional costs (including international travel) related to participation in the academic program will be coordinated by UNESCO-IHE

Eligibility to apply for a Ford fellowship is limited to:

Eiffel scholarships 2013/2014


The French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs launched the Eiffel excellence scholarship programme in January 1999 to support French centres of higher education in their international outreach initiatives, in a context of mounting competition among developed countries, to attract elite overseas students on master's, engineering and  PhD courses.

The Eiffel Programme offers funding for: 
- a Master’s postgraduate degree course
- a 10-month jointly tutored and jointly supervised component as part of PhD course,
preferably during the 2nd  or 3rd year.

Areas of study covered by the Eiffel Programme
The areas of study concerned by the Eiffel scholarships are:
- engineering sciences at Master level, sciences in a broader sense for PhD level (engineering
sciences, exact sciences such as mathematics, physics, chemistry and life sciences, nano- and
bio-technology, earth and environmental sciences and information and communication sciences
and technology)
- economics and management
- law and political sciences

Duration of the Eiffel scholarship
Master course: The Eiffel scholarship grant is attributed on condition that the student fulfils the
annual academic requirements of the curriculum for a  maximum duration of 12 months when
registering for M2, a maximum of 24 months when registering for M1 and maximum duration of
36 months when registering for an engineering science diploma.
