The Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF) and the United Health Foundation have partnered to provide financial assistance to Asian and Pacific Islander students who plan to pursue a degree that will lead to a career in the health field.
Applications and Recommendations may be submitted online (strongly recommended) or in paper format. The deadline for all APIASF scholarship applications is Monday, January 19, 2009,

Eligibility requirements:
Be of Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity as defined by the U.S. Census
Be a citizen, national, or legal permanent resident of the United States. Citizens of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia and the Republic of Palau are also eligible to apply
Be enrolling in a U.S. accredited college or university as a full-time, degree-seeking, first-year student
Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted) or have earned a GED Must apply for federal financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Students must reside and attend a college or university within the United Health Foundation geographical footprint (the 50 United States) and have fluency in an Asian or Pacific Islander language.
This is a one-time award of $5,000 for freshmen.
Students must major in one of the following subjects:
Anatomy; Athletic Training/Trainer; Biochemistry; Bioengineering; Bioinformatics; Biology; Biomedical Engineering; Biomedical Sciences; Biomedical Technology; Biophysics; Biopsychology; Biotechnology; Cardiovascular Technology/Technologist; Cell Biology and Anatomy; Cellular and Molecular Biology; Chemistry; Deaf Studies; Dietetics and/or Clinical Nutrition Services; Epidemiology; Food Science; Genetics; Gerontology; Health Communication; Human Biology; Immunology; Kinesiology; Medical Technology; Medicine; Mental Health Counseling/Counselor; Microbiology; Nurse Midwife/Nursing Midwifery; Nursing; Optics/Optical Sciences; Optometry; Organic Chemistry; Pharmacology; Pharmacy; Physical Education; Physical Therapy; Pre-Dentistry Studies; Pre-Medicine/Pre-Medical Studies; Pre-Nursing Studies; Pre-Pharmacy Studies; Psychology; Public Health
