Research carried out by the Physical Oceanography group at Swinburne is focused on deep-water and finite-depth wave dynamics, spectral modelling of wind-generated waves, wave breaking and dissipation, air-sea interaction, wave-bottom interaction and Langmuir circulation. This project is concerned with the development of a theory to describe extreme or rouge waves. The work will involve a combination of analysis and large scale computing. Applications should have a strong background in the Physical or Mathematical Sciences. Qualifications: 1) Honours degree in Physical or Mathematical Sciences (essential)(2) Strong analytical and mathematical skills (essential) (3) A good working knowledge of programming (desirable)
