Engineering Cooperative Scholarships

There are up to 20 industry sponsored scholarships available from UTS:Engineering each year. These scholarships are not available for a combined degree.

New John Heine Women in Engineering Equity Scholarship
The John Heine Women in Engineering Equity Scholarship has been generously established by the John Heine Memorial Foundation with the goal of increasing the participation of women in Engineering as a non-traditional area of study. This Scholarship aims to support applicants who have experienced financial hardship; other types of educational disadvantage may also be considered. The scholarship is open to female applicants for a UTS undergraduate Engineering course (for both current and non-current school leavers). One scholarship is available in 2010.

$85,000 will be provided over 5 years to cover HECS fees and some living costs.

Engineering Equity Scholarships

There are three Engineering Equity Scholarships available. These scholarships provide you with financial support if you have experienced long-term educational disadvantage/financial hardship due to any of the following:

> Personal illness/disability

> English language difficulty

> Rural or isolated school

> Difficult family circumstances

> Indigenous Australian

VALUE OF THE SCHOLARSHIP

Financial

The financial value of each Cooperative Scholarship is $12 000 tax free for one year (your first year). The RTA Full Degree and Rural Scholarships are valued at $48 000 tax free over five years. The Linden Little Engineering Equity Scholarship is valued at $27 000 tax free over two years. The Keycorp Engineering Equity Scholarships are valued at $5 000 tax free for one year.


RTA Full Degree Scholarships

An RTA Full Degree Scholarship provides you with financial support for the full duration of your studies in the Bachelor of Engineering (Civil), Diploma in Engineering Practice (5 years full time). You will complete both your internships with the RTA. There are six Full Degree scholarships available this year for the Civil Major only. Three of these will be awarded to Rural students who are therefore particularly encouraged to apply - these are current school leavers who reside in areas designated as rural/regional NSW and the ACT. Female students are also particularly encouraged to apply as the RTA wish to divide the scholarships equally among male and female applicants. These scholarships are not available for a combined degree
