The National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), parent organization for the National Honor Society, has awarded the NHS Scholarships since 1946, providing more than $10 million in scholarships to outstanding NHS members. Now in its 64th year, the program provides $200,000 annually in scholarship awards.
Only chapters with current affiliation are eligible to participate in the scholarship program. Only NHS chapter advisers have access to the nomination instructions and materials. Students are required to fill out the nomination form on line. The scholarship material can be downloaded by logging into the “Adviser Zone.” Scholarship packets are no longer mailed to schools. Nomination instructions will be posted in November 2010. The postmark deadline will be January 14, 2011.
Who is Eligible?
The National Honor Society Scholarship program is a nomination process. Students cannot apply but must be nominated through their high school National Honor Society chapter. Nomination forms cannot be sent to students or parents but must be obtained through the high school NHS Chapter Adviser. If you are a high school senior, a member in good standing of your school's National Honor Society chapter, and wish to be considered for nomination, contact your local high school NHS Chapter Adviser.
